Grandma Cutbirth's Date Nut Candy

Ingredients:

4 cups sugar
1/4 cup white Karo syrup
3 or 4 cups pecans
2 cups dates finely chopped
1 cup milk
1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:

Cook sugar, Karo syrup, milk, and margarine until it forms a hard ball in a cup of cold water.  Set aside and add dates,

nuts, vanilla, and then stir until it is cooler.

It must be firm and hard to stir.

Roll out on a wet cloth and chill in frig.

Remove from cloth and cut into VERY SMALL squares on wax paper (It's very sweet).

Store  wrapped in wax paper in jar or can at room temperature.

May be frozen for long term storage..
